Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill
The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill is the latest device the Coalition Government is using to rebalance the Licensing Act 2003 and it had its first reading in Parliament on the 30th of November and a second reading and debate on the 13th of December and is now at the report stage.
There was a consultation period, I and many others in the Industry gave our opinions but sadly it seems that Government has been persuaded more by the right wing press than the drinks industry.
As a consequence if you run a licensed premises you can expect the following changes:
The Bill also intends to restore the right to non violent protest around Parilament whilst ensuring that Parliament Square remains accessable to all by repealing sections 132-138 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.
This will allow police to remove those that protest by camping on Parliament Square, should tidy the place up a bit!
